July Event Details

July Event Details

Hello everyone!

KGE continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic with the advisement of our Safety Staff, and by listening to feedback from our player base. The Board has heard and recognized that it is unfair to the players to have to wait until the last minute to know whether or not the game will be in person. As such, we have decided that the next three events will be digital (July, August, September).

We all hope that we can return to the field in October.

The remainder of the season will be discussed at the Board of Directors meeting on October 11th, 2020.

To learn more about the in-depth conversation had between the members, Safety Staff, and the BoD, please see the minutes of our July BOD meeting.

We hope that you will join us for our July event this weekend, July 24th - 26th. It will take place online using Discord.

SO! Let's get on with some details about this upcoming event:

When is the event?

The event will start Friday July 24th at 5pm, and will end on Sunday July 26th at 5pm.

How do I get in?

A link to the Discord server will be sent out on Friday July 24th before 3pm via email.

You can purchase tickets for the July event at www.kanar.club/payment. Tickets for this event are our standard event fee of $20.00

Please note that paying before Friday July 24th will help speed up the check in process! If you pay for the event during the event you will be let in as staff becomes available. If you're doing so at 3 am, it will take some time for you to gain access to the event since staff is probably asleep. Please rest assured that we are all working diligently on this, and we will get to you as quickly as we can.

  • Due to COVID-19, we are not taking any cash or check payments at this time.

What do I need to do before I can play?

There's a few things that you should check off your checklist before you can start playing this weekend:

  • Make sure you have filed an ARF this year
  • Make sure you have paid for the July event
  • Make sure that you have no outstanding balance owed to KGE for past events
  • Make sure you have paid your yearly membership dues

If you have questions about any of these, or are unsure if you have an outstanding balance please email the Treasurer at: treasurer@kanar.club

How do I get XP?

  1. Like our last 2 digital events, we will have ways to earn XP available to all players! You can earn XP by doing the following:
    • Post a Vegetarian/Vegan Camping recipe - 6xp
    • If you could change one thing about your character, what would it be and why? - 6xp
    • Give us the public history of your character. - 6xp
    • Take a picture of you "in combat." - 6xp
    • Give us some accolades about another Kanar member! Tell us why they are a positive member of the community. Try not to repeat the same person twice! - 6xp
    • Record yourself singing a Disney song that best represents your character. - 12xp
  2. Season Pass Holders will get 30xp
  3. There will be a room in the Discord channel for you to post your submissions

This XP will cap at 12 extra XP (for a 30 XP Cap).

Can I do modules?

Yes! GM staff will be on and off all weekend, and will be working with those that require modules.

Can I teach/learn skills?

Absolutely! Just make sure that you are role-playing the lessons appropriately.

Will there be combat?

Yes, you may run into an encounter that requires combat! We will be following the combat rules created for the last event by our PM staff.

You can read the rules of combat here!

Once I'm online, how can I ask staff out of game questions?

Once you gain access to the Discord there will be an area wherein you can post your OOG questions.

You can also tag anyone who has the role of GUARD (they are our Admin staff), and they will happily help you, or direct you to the appropriate staff member!

How late can I purchase a ticket to be considered an "attendee" for sign out purposes?

You can buy tickets to the event until 4:50pm on Sunday July 26th. So long as you buy a ticket before then, you will be considered an attendee and can do a sign out!

If you have any further questions about the upcoming event you can email our Board of Directors at bod@kanar.club, or you can email our GM staff at gm@kanar.club.

Thank you all for being a part of this community, and for your flexibility as we try to figure out how to continue having a game even when we can’t see one another.

Please stay safe and healthy, and I look forward to seeing you all on the field again!

July 2020 BOD Meeting

Hello everyone!

First of all, I would like to say thank you for your patience with me as I get my sea legs for my new position as Secretary. I would also like to say thank you to Jake Smith and Erich O who have been helping me tremendously in getting caught up and learning the ropes. As I get more experienced with this work, I hope to be able to post the Minutes very shortly after BoD meetings.

Here are the Minutes for the July Board of Directors meeting, and I thought it might be helpful to list a few of the highlights:

  1. Sec 3.2: Angelo Aquino, Matt Ash, and Jake Smith have stepped down from their positions on the Board of Directors. Rob Hubbard, Karigan Nash, and Aaron Polk have been sworn in and are our new members of the BoD.

  2. Sec 3.2.8: The position of BLD 1st is now open and is taking applications! If you are interested in applying for the position, you have until 8/12/20 to submit a resume and cover letter to secretary@kanar.club. The position will be voted on by the BoD at the next meeting.

  3. Sec 5.4: The "No Driving On Field" policy is still in place.

  4. Sec 10 (General Discussion): Safety Staff has been very diligently monitoring the COVID-19 cases in Michigan, and has strongly advised against in-person events due to the noted uptick in Michigan COVID cases. The Board has also recognized that it is unfair to the players to have to wait until the last minute to know whether or not the game will be in person, and has decided that the next three events will be digital (July, August, September), and we all hope that we can return to the field in October.

  5. Sec 10 (General Discussion): We will be holding another BoD meeting on August 16th 2020 so that we can assign a new BLD 1st, as well as discuss a proposal sent in on 7/12/2020

Thank you all for being a part of this community, and for your flexibility as we try to figure out how to continue having a game even when we can’t see one another.

Please stay safe and healthy, and I look forward to seeing you all on the field again!

-Aaron Polk

Building & Land Department XP Notification

Building & Land Department XP Notification

Hello folks!

The BLD wants to remind you what you can submit for XP! We’ve noticed a lot of work being done on the property, but have had very little XP submissions lately. Up to 100 BLD XP can be earned per season, so don’t miss out!

Pretty much any work done on the property can be submitted. Some examples are:

  • Raking

  • Cleaning spaces of debris

  • Picking up non-natural objects

  • Chopping firewood for the town center

  • Any building done (with BLD approval)

  • And more!

If you think you can get XP for it, submit it with pictures using the BLD On Field Workday Submission Form: https://airtable.com/shrktYJPJ6WUnYSoI

We’re also accepting donations so that we can purchase items to improve the field, such as a magnet roller to pick up nails and a pole saw to take down dangerous tree limbs. Please consider donating here to help us reach these goals.

Thank you for your hard work, and have a great season!
